What is Shakelist?

What can Shakelist do?

Shakelist allows you to validate lists of email addresses to identify addresses that are not (or no longer) valid and addresses that are potentially dangerous to your reputation. Our solution helps you optimize your mailings by keeping only the most reliable addresses.

How does it work?

Shakelist will perform dozens of different tests on your addresses and give you a “verdict” as to whether the email address is valid, invalid or if its status cannot be determined.

How is this different from sending an email to check if the address exists?

Because Shakelist will diagnose the existence of your addresses without disturbing your recipients and without putting your reputation as a sender at risk.

My e-mail router asks me to go through your platform to clean my file. Does this make sense?

Yes ! We are a router ourselves and we know perfectly the problems they face. Your router asks you to do this check to protect its platform and to protect you at the same time. So you are in the right place!

E-mail checks

Will my contacts receive emails during validation?

No ! Shakelist’s validation consists of dozens of different tests that allow you to verify your data without ever having to contact your recipients. This validation is done without disturbing your recipients.

How long will it take to process my file?

The verification is done very quickly. However, for some addresses, the delay may be a little longer. Count on a few tens of minutes for 10,000 e-mails on average, but be aware that this time is variable depending on the diversity of the addresses in your file and the load of the platform.

Can you test 100% of the email addresses?

Yes ! But beware, this does not mean that you will get a certain result for the data set.

For some addresses, for example, we will be able to validate their format, the existence of a mail server, etc., but we will not be able to validate their existence (the case of Accept-All – explained below – for example).

Nevertheless, the results that will be provided to you always correspond to the highest level of diagnosis possible, that is our commitment!

Do you test greylist protected addresses?

As a reminder, a greylist is a protection system that will initially reject messages and then, after several minutes, accept them. Most address validation systems do not test these addresses. Shakelist takes care of testing these addresses and will provide you with an effective result in almost all cases. Greylist processing takes a little more time to give you a result.

Glossary

What are "Accept-all" emails?

The “Accept-all” addresses are of a particular type: their mail server indicates that all the addresses we want to test exist and require sending a real e-mail to perform the final test (to know if the address really exists).

We will not be able to provide you with a conclusive diagnosis on this kind of addresses, but this will not prevent us from providing you the result of all other tests (format, danger, role, mail server…).

What is a Bounce?

Bounces are invalid email addresses. The name comes from the technical notification sent by the recipient’s system. There are two types of bounces:

– Hard Bounces: these are definitive errors, addresses that no longer work.
– Soft Bounces: these are temporary errors (full boxes, etc.).

Shakelist identifies both types of bounces and informs you of the reasons.

What is a Spamtrap?

A “spamtrap” is an email address that allows operators to detect senders of junk mail.

There are many types of spamtraps:

– Primary spamtraps: mailboxes specifically created by operators to identify spammers.

– Typotraps: domains close to the original domains but including a small typo (gmial instead of gmail for example).

– Recycled spamtraps: e-mail addresses that have not been used for some time (and have therefore generated bounces) and have been recycled by operators as traps to identify senders who “recycle” old files.

– etc.

As routers ourselves, we hate spam. Shakelist is not intended to clean your file of spamtraps. Those who sell you this are lying to you: it is obvious that if someone knows all the spamtraps or can identify them, these “detectors” are useless.

Nevertheless, Shakelist helps you maintain good hygiene for your email lists even if you don’t send as often as recommended. It helps you identify dangerous addresses before they become dangerous.

API

Do you have an API to test email addresses from my forms / CRM?

Yes ! The Shakelist API allows you to connect your applications to the platform and let them benefit from the verification features offered by our solution. This API is very simple to use and only requires an activation in your account.

Is there a charge for access to the API?

No, access to the API is included in the price, at no extra cost.

We go much further than others!

Shakelist doesn’t just check email addresses!
It performs dozens of additional tests.
These allow you to better qualify your addresses and isolate potentially dangerous ones.
